The force is undeniable. The water gets hurled from one canyon wall to the other as it makes its way towards the ocean. A few moments earlier he had looked over the stream higher up in the valley and admired how calm the flow had been in the broad waterway. The scene does not make him anxious. He knows that downstream the landscape will once again broaden, the river will spread out and the current will subside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time is water\u2014life is a river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes we make a decision to turn our life around. We set ourselves clear goals. Turn the tables to our advantage. We walk the path of life taking slow and steady steps. We move one foot in front of the other, take calm breaths and repeat. Then, all of a sudden, life takes us into a different direction. Without conferring with us. Without us having anything to say in the matter. We lose control. We are forced to go with the flow, using all our energy to keep our heads above water until we get a grip on our existence again and find a chance to get back up on our feet.
