I had been dreaming. We were together on a vibrant square in a Mediterranean city. We talked, and you were about to tell me why you had left me \u2014 why you had disappeared from my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I close my eyes and return to the square. I look around, trying to find you. You are nowhere to be seen. The square is empty. I start running. I run up and down the side-streets around the square, looking for you. I need to find you. I need to know why you left me. I run up one street and then turn the corner into another. Just like the square, the streets are all empty. There is no one to be seen. The dream is gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I return to the square, panting after all the running. I lean forward, placing my hands on my knees and try to breathe normally. I know my chase is futile. I am never going to catch you.
