He’s the arbiter of knowledge,
the source for what is true.
He charges nothing for his wisdom,
making it at hand for me and you.

They say the truth has value,
and making it free is all but fair.
It distorts the natural advantage,
that hardworking money earners share.

They say knowledge has no presence,
in uneducated, idle hands.
It is the exclusive inheritance,
of the noble people of these lands.

They paint him as an evil person,
they say he’s involved in crime.
He claims the truth has another version,
they send him away for a time.

He says he has a clean conscience,
and an innocent and worthy cause.
They can wield their political power,
and control over the judicial force.

He was the arbiter of knowledge,
he shared his wisdom for free.
Now we can’t know what to believe,
we cannot afford it, you and me.

Börkur is an avid storyteller with a keen eye for quirky characters, funny dialogs and vivid scenario descriptions. Much of his writing falls within the genre of realistic fiction and his stories are more often than not based on real events in the author’s life. Although the tales contain grains of truth, they are melded with fiction, making the reader curious to know the line between reality and fantasy.
